The 512TR was much more refined and what the Testarossa should've been. It was a cleaner design, cleaner and more ergonomic interior, different fuel injection and more performance. Most say the 512 TR is the most well balanced of all of the Testarossa's. The 512TR was debuted at the LA Auto show in January of 1992. The TR was 5mm lower, 5mm shorter and had the power increased to 412hp (U.S. cars, 428 non-US) from 390hp. 72 lbs were removed from the car which helped propel the car to from 0-62 in 4.8 sec from 5.2 sec.

The Testarossa's original welded tubular steel Tipo F110 AB chassis was replaced with an updated F110 HB version, offering a 13% increase in torsional rigidity. To enhance handling, the ride height was lowered, and the engine and gearbox were positioned lower in the chassis. The engine and gearbox remained mounted on a removable subframe, which could be easily unbolted from the chassis for maintenance. The suspension system featured independent components on all four corners with unequal-length wishbones, coil springs, and new gas-filled telescopic shocks. Like its predecessor, the 512 TR was equipped with twin spring and shock assemblies per side at the rear, along with anti-roll bars at both ends.

The Testarossa's ventilated disc brakes were retained, with a 315mm diameter at the front and 310mm at the rear. The wheels increased in size from 16 inches to 18 inches in diameter, with the front width remaining at 8 inches while the rear width expanded from 10 inches to 10.5 inches. These new Speedline rims featured a modern five-spoke design and were originally fitted with Pirelli P Zero tires. Compared to the Testarossa, the front track was widened by 14mm, while the rear track was narrowed by 16mm.

The engine in the 512 TR underwent extensive reworking. Still a dry-sumped, all-alloy, dual overhead camshaft 180° Flat 12, the new Tipo F113 D 040 power unit featured a revised block casting and redesigned four-valve cylinder heads. The compression ratio was increased from 9.2:1 to 10.0:1. The latest Bosch Motronic M2.7 engine management system was introduced. Displacement remained at 4942cc, with a bore and stroke of 82mm and 78mm, respectively. The engine delivered a peak output of 428bhp at 6750rpm and 362lb-ft of torque at 5500rpm, compared to the original Testarossa's 390bhp at 6300rpm and 354lb-ft at 4500rpm. The power was transmitted through a five-speed manual gearbox with new ratios, a twin-plate hydraulic clutch, and a limited-slip differential.

This car is complete with its books and tools and a full set of Schedoni Luggage. This car just had a recent full engine out service which included the replacement of the belts, engine seals, fluids, tires, fuel system. It was then cryogenically cleaned where the chassis now looks as close to new as possible. This car is ready for the concours lawn or to be driven and enjoyed.
